An awareness group for exploration and support
Autumn / Winter 2026
Judit Bence – Gestalt therapist, trainer, supervisor, organisational consultant
Els De Gersem – Gestalt therapist, trainer, supervisor
Overview
Our relationship with eating, our bodies, and how we see ourselves is often deeply personal and hidden. Many people carry shame, self-criticism, confusion, loneliness, or an ongoing struggle around food and body image.
Growing from both our personal and professional experience, we wish to create a safe and non-judgemental space where participants can explore their relationship to eating, self-image, body experience, weight and the emotions connected to them.
This group is not about dieting, weight loss, or finding the “right way” to eat. Instead, we invite curiosity, awareness, dialogue, and shared exploration.
This programme is for you if …
- you are curious to explore your relationship with food and body in a supportive group setting
- eating feels emotionally loaded, confusing, or shameful
- you experience criticism, dissatisfaction, or shame connected to your body or self-image
- you find it difficult to recognise or trust your body’s signals (for example hunger, desire, comfort, fullness)
- you feel alone with these experiences
How the group works?
We meet monthly between September and December 2026, from 18:00–21:00 on the following days: 30 September, 28 October, 25 November, 16 December.
Each session will explore themes connected to eating, body image and shame. The group offers space to speak, listen, reflect, and connect with others who may share similar experiences, struggles and questions.
Location: Belgian Institute of Gestalt Therapy, 17 Rue Van Hammée, 1030 Brussels
The group is closed, with a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 participants.
We will be talking in English, you are welcome to join with a level that allows you to participate.
Before joining, we invite each interested participant for a short individual video conversation.

What you can expect
Relational support
We believe that becoming more aware of ourselves is often easier in connection with others. The group offers an opportunity to learn from each other and recognise that many struggles are shared.
Non-judgemental space
Participants are welcomed as they are. There is no expectation to change, perform, or “do it right”.
Awaereness-oriented approach
Our focus is not willpower, discipline, or any dietary solution. We invite curiosity and awareness of what is happening in the present moment.
Nuanced perspective
We recognise that our relationship with eating and body image is shaped by personal history, embodied experience, family patterns, social expectations, and the ways our nervous system responds to the world around us.
